I Hate The Flu

Had my flu shot before winter... avoided it nearly all winter, then got a head cold from hell that just won't go away. I seriously despise flu season and these silly viruses. Makes it even worse that you can't really do anything to get rid of them, other than rest, drink water and let it run its course.

With all the modern medicine nowadays they try and pump down our throats, the common cold eludes them completely. Just way too much money to be made in selling remedies and feel good crap, such as panadol. Really... is that really the best you experts have got?

Im sorry you have been ill. Well they cant seem to get it right as the viruses continue addapeting or they choose the wrong one.

I do too. I usually get sick from the flu shot. I don't trust what they put in it. But since you avoided getting sick nearly all winter, its probably not from the shot. Or maybe its from people who got the shot and the virus got into them and spread it to you. You never know. Maybe some people are immune, like you, but others are not and get sick as intended by the shot. Not trying to sound paranoid, but I have always wondered about that. Why would they care so much at pharmacies for people to get the shot in the first place? There are huge signs (even on the road) for the flu shot. Are they banking on them to then buy all the products, like you said, meant to cure it which never work? Just my take on the "flu" market.

Sorry to hear you are sick. Try and rest. Chicken soup (homemade if someone can make for you) and drink lots of fluids. I feel sick right now myself but I think that is due to stress for me. Stress seems to shock my immune system. But best of luck to you and your recovery. Rising Sun.

I get the shot each year... missed the flu last year, but only a head cold this year, not the full on flu version that is knocking many around. Nose is blocked, sore throat, headache... that's about it... just still annoying as it makes me feel lacking with energy.

It seems like it has been a few days since you first posted you weren't feeling good. Hopefully you are at the tail end of it. The ones that seem to hang on are the worst.

I refuse to get flu shots. Instead I wash my hands after shopping or touching things that get handled by strangers. I use sanitizing wipes on my grocery cart including the seat because little rug rats sit there and run their snot and urine all over it. I have air purifiers at home and work and everything at my office gets disinfected btx each client. I've never had a cold or flu.

@Fadeaway - I'll accept you are in the Northern hemisphere but "upper" depends on your point of view! We might be Southern but we're certainly not lower! ;)

Yer... I hope I'm at the tail end myself. I've had it since last Wednesday... it started to go away, then came back... stupid viruses.

It doesn't matter if you recover from pneumonia, if you don't outrun the bear.

Anthony I hope you will feel better soon. Next Tuesday I am getting a flu shot and asking for a pneumonia shot as well. I only got sick last year, I was really lucky no sickness for me for three years. I believe in flu shots but they do nothing for head colds. I hope you are resting and drinking a lot of fluids.
