Hello everyone!?

I am refugee from Syria living in Norway. I have a C-PTSD and I can't communicate with my peers from homeland because they trigger ? me so much. I tried to communicate with local community but their reaction was so cold toward me ? and they didn't consider me as an one of them. I feel so depressed, lonely and unsafe socially ?. I feel homeless and I need a new community to connact with. What can I do?

@Ghaith wardeh I think I can relate to you on a few aspects. No I am no refugee, but I came to this country in the mid of ninetees, not being able to speak the language, looking completely different, having not enough support and leaving a situation that was filled with turmoil. I am very sorry you are going through such a tough time. This might sound like a very silly suggestion, but is there anything available which grounds you? Anything? Music, reading, Norway’s nature. I know you said, you want to belong to a community, but anything which you could Do with others?

Hi there. You found a great community here. The people here are from all over the world. You'll fit right in. Glad you found us.
Thank you

I joined local painting group, but their reaction still cold toward me. I can speak Norwegian but they don't speak to me at all.
I can't talk to my peers from homeland because they hurted me and stegmatized me. I don't feel I belong the Syrian culture.

@Ghaith wardeh very sorry to hear about that. Why Do you think is that so? The fact that those from the painting group isn’t willing to interact with you? (If you feel like answering.. if not I understand)
Even if those from your home country have stigmatized you, there is always a sense of belonging to ones origins that no one can take away from you! Your memories, your identity, everything you call „home“. If I sound like a preacher, sorry, I tend to get carried away when it comes to homeland

I have heard of a mindset conditioning called janteloven there.. maybe they need to remind themselves of it. A picture of „equally valuable“.

I am trying to forget my homeland. I've putted all links with it. Whole my life there was a tragedy.
I don't know what can I do. I want to join Norwegian community but how I can do it if they don't want me.?

A Little support here @Ghaith wardeh even if it’s just through words. Maybe you come across any humanitarian organizations with different kinds of Programms where you can somehow find likeminded people? Likeminded Norwegians or people from other countries who are willing to meet up and talk about their Day to Day struggles, what unites them? What helps them to cope?

Yes I would like

I am trying to forget my homeland.

I don't think you can forget about your homeland. I hear you when you say you want to leave it all behind. However maybe when you have built a good life for yourself in Norway that will take over and you will not need to try and forget.

I want to join Norwegian community but how I can do it if they don't want m
How long have you been there? I have moved around to many different places in my life and each time it has taken a long time for me to settle in, get to know what I liked and find people whom I liked too.

What are your hobbies or interests? If painting is your interest please keep going. Sometimes all it takes is time and then people relax around you and get to know your personality rather than your old nationality. When they know you want to make friends and that you can be a friend to them it may become easier.

I moved to a completely different part of my country 18 months ago and am just beginning to reach out.. and I was born in this country! So it's a lot easier for me. Keep trying out places and clubs, groups etc., for things you may enjoy and you may start to meet the same people each week over and over.

I am not saying it's easy at all but keep trying.
