I'm really glad to hear that others have therapists who are supportive of this forum and our involvement in it. Mine is a huge supporter and encourages me to come here and share as often as I need to. He is always interested when I bring up discussion of things we have discussed here and strongly believes that the ability to connect with people who really "get it" is invaluable and not something that can be created anywhere else.
I know that online chat forums tend to have a bit of a bad name in the self help world, due to there being so many dodgey and damaging ones, but it's good to know that properly-informed professionals can recognize the value that a community such as this, which is ethically and properly managed, can have. As others have said, it's the connection in the middle of the night that often means so much, and the place where nothing is too shameful to share, and there will always be at least a dozen people to "like" what you say, even when you're sure that there won't be. That's a very unique form of validation.
