I Told My Gran

I class this as a pretty massive step forward. I actually told my Gran that I was sexually abused.

Been a very surreal and emotional couple of hours.

I could never tell my grandma. As much as I loved her, I couldn't have, simply because when I talked to her about my mom she always made excuses for my mom's behavior. Funny, because my grandma was the one person I felt unconditional love from as I got old.

Oh, the wee!joyful! toddler/child/teen in me is so very happy-happy for you. This is colossal in achievement.
Someone in the family that is willing to listen (and supportive) to your testimony is something that gives me hope for this world of so many traumatized folks, young and old. Thanks for sharing this.

How wonderful for you to break the chains of silence that bound and gagged you. I am so very happy for you that it is going well and she believed you. I am glad you are getting some closure out of these conversations. That took so much bravery and courage on your part. I am really proud of you. Surely this must have healed you in some way. So very happy for you.

Ressurecting this thread because I've told Nan an awful lot more tonight. And I think (according to a friend) that this funny feeling is 'pride'!

I have been honest with her about not only the sexual abuse, but that it was my dad and a friend of his. I think this is big seen as dad is her side of the family. We had a good talk about it and a big cuddle.

I also said about the dissociative episodes, what's happening in therapy and where I'm at generally. Told her about the inner child thing and how frightening and confusing it is.

She's insisted we go back to my doctors, together and get myself sorted. Possibly with a psychiatrist I think she's thinking, and make sure that college and the exam boards know about it all.

She's finally on the same page as me and I think I now have support to get better in real life, at home, with my loved ones, as well as online.
