I was physically assaulted a few days ago , and i have been calling the police officer that was present after the assault and he provided me with his name , and number , and he told me to find a friend to stay with and to call him once i got to a friends house and i did just that i have been calling this police officer since the day of the assault he hasnt returned my calls i have left him messages on his voice mail , and no response my question is has anyone else had this happen to them? is this normal?
Its been days and no response no call back nothing!

that is frustrating, I am so sorry, I would call a women's center to be an advocate for you with the police because yea seems to me the police should be answering your call or contacting you. I wouldn't be patient in your situation. Did you go to the hospital?

no i did not i got checked out by my doctor i did contact a womans center and waiting to hear back from someone .... i just dont understand why the officer isnt returning my calls i have left him messages on his voice mail and days have passed and no call back nothing.

it's not right. I am very sorry you are going through this. I'm glad you reached out to a women's center, I hope they get back to you quickly.

This is a bit strange. The officer may be off duty, and that's why he is not returning the calls. But it's strange that he asked you to call him on his number once you got to a friend's house and then didn't reply. He should know when he will be off duty.

Go get a copy of the officer's report about the assault. That may give you answers as to what is going on with this officer. It may be that he spoke to the suspect, and decided something different happened.

If you know who the suspect was, and the suspect was arrested, and you are in the US, you have a right to know that, know when they are jailed, know when they are released. The fact that no one is contacting you suggests either something is wrong with this officer, and/or this officer has changed his mindset about this case based on new (true or false) info.

If you are in the US, you can call the police station and ask to speak to a victim advocate and his supervisor and express your concerns. I would not keep calling this particular officer back until you have more information. However, do call the police if you are in danger and to find out more info, and speak to a supervisor if needed.
