If You Could Change / Want One Thing On The Forum?

I would change the mood chooser. Funny how the mood cocky in this mood package can ruin the whole thing for me.
Whilst I will concede on two of these, I would like members to also remember that they are just moods, and because you don't feel something, doesn't mean another doesn't.

Saying that, I have removed the two sexualised ones, being cocky and rug munching.

I see no issue with the sex snack, arsey or others... as they are just moods, and sometimes a person feels like sex, so they may represent that with said mood.

I might be the only person, but I would use a creative space. Sometimes it's difficult to find words for feelings, and putting it in a poem, story or picture can be helpful to get it out.

But I'd feel a bit embarrassed to put something like that on the ChitChat forum, so another place for it would be good.

I guess like an additional forum for creative expression of trauma or emotional issues.

I think it would be necessary to stress that it's not about being technically 'good' at writing or art, but a place to try to express feelings that feel stuck because they're too difficult to explain.

There are creative exercises that are designed to help people express themselves more freely. So perhaps people who've used them could share these too, for those who've never tried anything creative to try it out.

When I use creativity therapeutically, it's to express the most painful or messed up parts of my mind. Because these are the parts that I'm not able to explain properly.

I find that on bad days when I would probably benefit most from talking out my feelings, my mind is too messy to explain what's going on. So I shut up and avoid contact.

But on those days it helps to try and put the feeling on paper as a likeness or a metaphor. What comes out can leave you feeling extremely vulnerable. Like how you feel coming out of therapy having spoken about a particularly difficult part of trauma.

I think when using creativity like this, it's not really appropriate to share on chit chat.

Like what?
I liked it when we could add creative stuff to our profiles. This is going back a bit, but I seem to remember you could add photos, or videos to your profile. Not so much as a blog, but just a place where you could store things like images and videos. Things that inspired you, helped you, and that could be shared by choosing who you shared those profile items with (everyone, members only, friends only etc)

I liked having my own little personal space. I'm often too hindered by self doubt to share those types of things publicly, because those snippets are too personal for chit chat.

Some of that is out-dated principles in social networking communities, a forum being such one. Loading profiles with such things are cumbersome upon a server, hence why newer softwares typically stay away from such things and instead do it more like Facebook, feeds and segregation via areas (apps). Facebook isn't a forum though, so lets not confuse that. They leave profiles for just that, being a summation of the persons activity in other community areas. IPB are the largest forum developer on the web at present, and they have also switched away from the antiquated ways of older methods that Vbulletin still use, breaking the product into clear areas where each runs uniquely, thus performance is heightened for the user by reducing the cost to the administrator for the server.

Xenforo software is still relatively new in the scheme of forum software, so things like core gallery and blog features are not yet available. There is a blog addon that I am currently watching, which I'm hoping its next release covers these aspects mentioned above, being a member has their own blog (area) in which they control what is viewed publicly, privately and by only those they follow, whether they allow comments or not per blog post, etc. That is wait and see. Apparently the first release of the new version should be out in the coming months, as I'm not happy with the current release of it, which is lacking in such privacy features.

If the new release covers those aspects, then I will install it here so members have such an area with such control.
