Sufferer I'm A Newbie Here!

Hi all, I am Jessie and I am a newbie. I have always suspected I had PTSD but finally started seeing a mental health professional three months ago who confirmed by suspicions.

I am an Army Veteran but my PTSD is not related to it but to trauma suffered during childhood - I have an abusive father who had a drinking problem and he was violent towards me - and also due to a very physically and emotionally abusive marriage which ended four years ago.

I am glad to be here and to know that I am not alone...because sometimes it feels that way.

Sometimes the hardest part of PTSD is that feeling of being alone and that no one understands. Therapy definitely is integral to healing, but it is also such a relief to find a place like this forum for additional support. The members here really do get it.
