Ok, so I to make a long story short, I just got really upset and angry about something and I cant resolve the problem until later, but I am at work and I am having a really hard time trying to relax. My back, neck shoulders are tense, and I feel like im going to jump out of my skin. Does anyone have any tips for me on how to calm down and relax my body? The physical symptoms are awful.

Work outs work for me. Even a quick 10 minute session of dancing.

When I am too tense, I cannot meditate it away. But everyone is different.

Hot showers help too, and singing loudly to a loudly played favorite song. Some mode to release the pent up energy.

One kat to another, my advice is to breathe. Take a breathing bath. Inhale the good, exhale the bad. Don't worry about a knockout blow or any fantasy that there's a switch that turns this off.

Imagine all the stress and angst in a large bucket of excrement you have to carry. Put a valve in the bottom and open it up. Each breath forces more stuff out the valve.

And yes, @franciemarie is right. Exercise or dancing helps breathing and offers some positive place to put all the pent up energy. Music too.

I have TMJ as well!! The one thing that I found to help with that was I was getting physical therapy for a few months for a shoulder problem and the lady knew I had TMJ so she would also give me neck and scalp massages. If you can find a place that will do that, I highly recommend it. Also, if you have had any dental work done, that could be causing problems also!
