Intermittent Exotropia

man, something is going through my eyes. One drifts to the right, and one drifts to the left. It's not always. I can focus and they wil correct. Has anybody experience this? I'm see a ophthalmologist with n the 31st.

Please someone. I'm just embarrassed by this. They where naturally ok. Then all of a sudden my left eye would turn to the left on occasion. Then my right eye started doing it. My vision is declining over this.

Don't wait. Go to the E.R. I had to do some research but from what I am reading, onset after the age of 5yrs old is incredibly rare and in adults is usually a side effect of alcohol or sedatives. It can also be cause by oculormotor palsy, graves disease or injury. Seriously! I am no Dr. but this sounds serious. The big thing that stood out to me was the emphasis on the age thing with 40% of cases occurring before the age of two.

Please, please don't wait to get medical attention.

I didn't do any research but I know involuntary eye movement is usually related to something going south with the nervous system. I'd go to E.R too, don't wait till the 31st, just in case. It may be something small but it is a sign that something odd is happening.

Exotropia is a type of tardive dyskinesia - which means it is an abnormal muscular movement (or diminished voluntary movement of one or more muscles) that has a delayed onset from taking neuroleptics for an extended amount of time. You might be taking neuroleptics if you're on certain types of anti-psychotics or drugs for gastro-intestinal problems.

If it's a medication induced problem, you should get it looked into asap, because it's a side effect that doesn't ease up when you withdraw from the drug.

This didn't just start happening. It's been happing for two years almost three. It's just gotten to the point I no longer can see correctly unless I focus. I always squint my left eye because things seem bright. I'm going to the ophthalmologist on Tuesday so we will see what the heck is going on.
