I've experienced victim/witness trauma including sex crimes perpetrated against me, witnessing violent crimes, and being a victim of violent crimes.
I'm a feminist, activist, and I rescue and train dogs as a hobby. I'm super pro-pet therapy.
I don't talk much in detail about what happened to me. I will say that from that string of awful and traumatic incidents I now also have both hpv and hsv. I am still a survivor. I don't just consider myself lucky. I know how to survive. And even in the aftermath of all this, I know I still can. While it can sometimes feel like I'm in a really "blank" spot right now, I can make it through that just as I did the darkest ones. While some memories can feel like a blur of faces you never want to know, and others the sharpest visual of the texture of wood in a bar that closed down..a time that seems not even that long ago. As invasive as these can be you learn to let them flow into you as what they are, accept that they will pass, and leave your mind just as quietly or as suddenly as they did.
