Is This Gerd Or Anxiety??

@joeylittle
I consider myself STILL a teen, if the really matters and im not in my 20's.
From that statement I would personally guess 18 or 19.

@DerpyDerp_:O I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt because I suspect that you are young and therefore do not realize how you come across. However, being that you admit you don't have PTSD Your user name is a term made popular by the internet troll community, well can you see how it would make people a little uncomfortable and suspicious especially amongst people who have legitimate reasons to be more suspicious of others than the general population?

That said, I am giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are just genuinely looking for answers and that you probably just searched anxiety and this forum came up. While we can tell your our personal experiences with such symptoms and what we were diagnosed as, we can't tell you what your set of symptoms could be. I do however recommend that you get a second opinion if you aren't comfortable with the first diagnosis because these set of symptoms do have various causes therefore making diagnosis more difficult than say a broken arm.

could you please explain what "Gerd" means? This is an international forum and we are members from around the world.
I just wanted to add that in the UK GERD is called GORD just to add to the confusion

GERD= Acid Reflux LOL, you could also look it up..
Just as you could look things up yourself. I found this response quite rude.

And If. You have been diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease.
or here Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.

This thread is most strange. The GP is unlikely to do a Chest xray for GORD. I would expect acid tests via a Ph Study, or a simple trial of ant-acid medication to assess the situation. Why no Electro-cardiogram (ECG) to check the heart function?

I think anxiety is likely, and if you do not have time for therapy then you do not have time to be worrying either.

I think we are being strung along here

I get these symptoms sometimes, and eventually I burp and they subside, so I have come to the conclusion that it is GERD which I have been diagnosed with. However, please don't take my word for it, you should listen to your doctor. He or she has the final say.

I have come to the realization recently that the body is so complicated. Down to biochem. I had acute chest pain, pain in my left arm, pain between my shoulder blades, heart burn and indigestion. Most of the internet said to dial 911. But it didn't quite fit. Pain subsided with yoga and laying down. I had to really dig to see if I could help myself feel better. Ironically, it was a GERD forum I ended up being on. All were diagnosed with GERD although they had classic heart attack symptoms.

Then the search turned to the nervous system because it controlled all the areas that hurt. The vagus system. It uses acetylcholine as its neurotransmitter. (I am really paraphrasing all the bio chem stuff I read.) having s under active vagus nerve causes those symptoms. Weird ones from the ear to flank pain. To counteract, make acetylcholine. You can do that by taking choline and b vitamins. Now, it's only been a few days, and it could totally be a placebo effect, but unlikely, most of my pain is gone. I still have intermittent chest pain and my left arm still tingles.

My doctor and my chiropractor knows what I was doing. They condidered it low risk to take a supplement. They also concur that I was not having heart issues as in heart disease.

Get checked out by a doctor. If he says you are fine, and you are still in pain, try choline and a Chiro adjustment. In the meantime, eat oatmeal and bananas. If all that fails, then see shrink. It's hard to tell if you are stressed that caused pain or if the pain caused stress. In my case, it was a little bit of both.

I have "general anxiety" (which anyone would if they grew up in an environment similar to mine) and a history of hypochondria. I'm only recently diagnosed C-PTSD. I wouldn't label myself a "strong person," but certainly a "DETERMINED person." And by that, I mean that I pushed too hard to get better and deal with my traumas too intensely. My therapist and people on this board told me to not push/hurry things too much. Well I did...

And as everyone on this board knows, stress takes a truly serious toll on our bodies in phenomenal ways!

SO this morning I will be having an ultrasound for possible gallbladder disease, kidney stones, bladder inflection and appendicitis! ON TOP OF THAT, 4 days ago diagnosed with PMDD (its like being pregnant + menopausal + Alzheimer's all together! so awesome.. Im not even 28)! AND THEN ON TOP OF THAT, I experienced a form of adrenal collapse that I still have yet to fully understand. Oh, and TMJ about a week ago.

I told myself that early symptoms were just stress. I didn't want to deal with them because I was determined to get my mind better. Doing so gave me "BRAIN FOG" which is due to a couple of the above issues, so now I've lost my mind lol.

Stress can CAUSE REAL PHYSICAL ISSUES. If you have abdominal pain that lasts for over 3 days, or bowel issues for over 2 days... SEE A DOCTOR JUST IN CASE! I try to 5-5-5 (properly) to see if my symptoms ease/go away, if they do I attribute it to a panic attack.

I hope you're feeling better! I come from a family of ALL doctors (everyone since we got to USA in early 1900s), and I am also in the field. WebMD symptom checker is honestly a helpful tool (just don't tell a doctor you used it because they hate it lol). plus there are free nurse lines! (could save you a copay!)

Thanks so much @ReaganLove ! In fact, my anxiety and stress does make my symptoms worse, im starting to believe that this is all anxiety. Today I have a doctors appointment at 11 a.m. (so we both would be going to the doctor today). Looking all of my syptoms online makes me soo stressed and every website i go on says to call 9-1-1. That totally freaked me out. Good Luck on your tests, I wish you the best. :)
