Sexual abuse always starts with a power play. It is very common for the predator (they are bc they prey on vulnerable) to test the victim. I am very sorry this was your father. This is abuse (period).
Also, NO touch even has to happen to be abusive. They simple act of displaying sexual behaviors not appropriate for kids is abuse. It is a setting up of sorts to get the victim to second guess everything just as you are.......that in and of itself is abuse. Teaching someone not to rely on their own self alarms is wrong.

What you have described is what my father did to me. The tricky thing was that it was normalized within my family and that some of what he did probably could have passed as "normal" anywhere. I agree with a previous post, that overall, the word "normal" isn't helpful. It felt intrusive to you. That's the key thing

My T did a wonderful thing when we were dealing with this subject. She had us talk about "hair pulling". So, imagine a dad comes along and lightly pulls a child's hair as a joke. Is that ok?
