Is Weight Gain Normal For Someone Taking These Meds?

A pharmacist is the best person to answer this question. I would suggest calling yours and asking them for the most official answer. On online drug websites, weight gain is listed as a common side effect of Saphris and a less common, but possible, side effect of the other two medications.

I think there is only one weight neutral atypical antipsychotic? Maybe I'm wrong as I haven't kept up with the newer ones released in the last couple of years. Most cause weight gain, some cause a LOT of weight gain.

What about alpha and beta blockers, how do they affect that stuff, or do they simply not have effect on that due to them just blocking out a certain part of brain.

@otakujome Alpha blockers and beta blockers don't block out a part of the brain. They are heart medications that have secondary uses in anxiety disorders. I know that Atenolol (beta blocker) can cause weight gain as it did for me.

Well, I guess I will have to find beta blockers which don't affect weight.

I'm on sertraline and I gained weight. I was on 150mg and now I'm down to taking just 50mg and guess what? I've lost weight! So I think the two are linked yes. I'm slowly coming off the meds altogether so hopefully I'll be back to the size I was before the meds eventually.
