(I don’t ghost, so I’m speaking in terms of isolation periods.)

No.

Feelings of missing a partner simply do not exist. In my mind, isolation feelings cannot coexist with missing people feelings. They are mutually exclusive.

I have to agree with @EveHarrington. Unless I walk out the door and never come back and never communicate again with my hubby, I am not ghosting him. I am ignoring him and separating myself for a time...isolating myself from his presence and voice. This is my time to recoup and work through whatever is aggravating or upsetting to me with the intent of reconcilliation. It may take a day, week, or in one case 4 months. This is not ghosting. Do I miss hubby when I am in a timeout? Nope! To me ghosting is exiting a relationship and simply disappearing. "Poof"! Gone! No explanation, no communication. Permanent. Nothing. Ghosts don't come back to human form and start over again. Ghosting is a permanent exit, without notice, IMO.

When I'm isolating, I don't miss anyone or anything. I'm in my cocoon, and it's a huge relief not to have to deal with anyone. I don't think about anyone, I don't care about anyone. The apocalypse could happen, and as long as it doesn't intrude on my cocoon I really couldn't care less.

I agree, ghosting and isolating are two different things. I think the OP actually means isolating.

Nope. When I have ghosted, I am in dire need to get away from all forms of human contact (aka, stress) and my symptoms are in such a high intensity that they blind me. Like @EveHarrington said, there is no room to miss someone. I would miss them after I have gotten control over my symptoms which is then when I pop back up and start contact again. But when I ghost (or isolate in general) and when I'm in the thick of it, there is no thought of missing someone.

Now, I possibly can miss aspects of someone. Like, if something that person did helped to ease symptoms I could miss that but not the person themselves. If I was going to miss them I am not sure I would have ghosted to begin with. For me, when I ghost, them not being there is a large relief. Which is the oposite of missing them. It doesn't mean I don't love them. It just means that person added stress and it's a relief to not have that stress in my life at that time.

Thank you so much for all responses, it has helped tremendously!
