I think that time stuck in traffic also allows my thoughts to run away with me and my past abuses come back and start their replay-dance, setting me further on edge.
This could be your brain's way of trying to get you to deal with things that happened to you. A lot of people here keep journals and write about stuff like that when it comes up. It can suck processing through those emotions, but in time, they come up less and less as the anger and pain finds an outlet. It's definitely not a short term solution, though, more like process.

Just some ideas that may help you?
I 've learned when I get PTSD rage is to walk away from the situation.
Get away, or I will snap and say something I will regret.
Where ever you are, just walk into any other room, place, garden, just move away.

It saves tearing up relationships with people.
When your calmer, maybe next day then deal with the situation.

Having to drive in heavy traffic is always stressful can you listen to a CD, music, etc?
Check out Tony Robbins he is a motivational speaker and talks about how to change the state you are in by what
you are thinking.
Highly recommend.
Listening to him has really helped me in a positive way.
I hope it will help you.
Warmest regards and best wishes.
