Have any you looked on Kickstarter for PTSD projects? I know that is a bit random, but I started following the Reading Rainbow project and a few days in just did a random search for PTSD projects. There is currently one for a documentary by Luke Renner that covers all types of trauma. Most of the projects are very narrow in scope--focusing on military PTSD. But I like that this project is wanting to educate people who know trauma victims from all walks of life. In my personal experience, and I know many of you have similar stories, our loved ones continue to hurt us, not because they mean to, but because they don't understand. Ignorance on PTSD is so pervasive that true support and compassion is grossly lacking. I hope some of you will take a look. If anyone is going to influence the general population on how to help those experiencing trauma, I think it's going to have to be us.

Not long ago I backed a Kickstarter for a guy doing a documentary on the incest in his family. I'm sad that he is making it--because I'm sad it happened to him. I'm grateful for every person like me who stands up and says "I'm here and this happened to me" so I'm thrilled to kick some money his way.

Thank you, rightkindofme. This project hit it's first goal today! I would love to see it make it it's first stretch goal, but it's a long way to go in 8 days. I have a friend who was recently, terribly mistreated by her church family because they just. don't. get. it. I was outraged and after three days of focusing on her I crashed and needed a whole therapy session of my own to process it all. My therapist was disappointed in the whole situation, but not surprised. It has really put a fire in me to help people love on trauma sufferers. I truly hope Luke Renner has the same passion...
