If you google domestic violence and your area you will find the list of services. I put in a couple, just in case you are so stressed you are finding it hard to do things like that.

I hate to bring this up, but has he spanked the children? Been violent in front of the children? Been nasty in a way that the children would be currently upset about?

If there is something that DSS would hold against him, filing the complaint against him with DSS is the most likely to prevent him from taking them. DSS assumes that the person with a complaint against them is guilty until proven innocent.

There is a risk that they will also trouble you on that account, but I'd worry much less about it.

Now, as for his using your PTSD being used against you... With a good lawyer, your therapist can testify for you. Only a nut of an opposing attorney would call them against you. The other side can have no professional witnesses that have examined you, so what your therapist says is the only independent evidence that can be given about it.
