Just bought 8 of my nieces and nephews Klutz books. They're great interactive books for kids. For now they have 25% off all their books on their website. The books aren't usually on sale so this was awesome for me. Ended up being under $14 average for each child. I think that is good. Oh, and those 8 children are from one sibling. Still more shopping to do for other family members. Lucky me. NOT! :bag:

I am looking forward to having a real Christmas, whatever that means, a real tree, real presents... and family! And my children aren't going to open their presents until the 25th...! not like the Germans do here, on the 24th! And I won't be alone and terribly depressed and remembering the worst memories I ever had (happened in christmas time) ... No way! :D:D:D

Nadia, we have our boys open their gifts from us on the 24th. They get to open Santa's gifts on Christmas day. Of course, now that they are teenagers they know different. But that is how my mom raised us.

One of my traumas occurred two weeks before Christmas. I know how difficult that could be. I use to get tense the closer it came. Now I talk myself down, acknowledging the grief.

I'm glad you are going to celebrate a real Christmas!

We always had our kids open one gift on christmas eve. The rest were the next morining. It was a tradition and my daughter has carried that on with her kids as well.

a real Christmas, whatever that means,

Nadia why not create your very own Christmas Tradition for you and the children, something different. You are so creative you could make ornaments and each one design one for this year and then do the same next year! Instead of glitter you could use sand! I saw some pretty special sand work and I have never seen an ornament done.

Or make a special cookie recipe. Oh I want to come and play...... I promise not to make a big mess!

When I was very young we had to put our shoes out on the front porch the night before Christmas Eve. We could
go out and get them at 8:00 pm. They had gum and candy in them! My grandfather was from Norway and he started it so of course I did with my children. I was smarter though I put the goodies in a cute little bag!

Happy Happy Holidays to you and your adorable children! Hugs, Whitney

We do that on St. Nicks. I didn't do it when I grew up. Didn't even know what it was until I moved to a town with heavy German ethnicity. We started it with our children. Though, I usually forget until nearly the last minute! My boys are teens now, but I still try to do it. You'd think I'd have the hang of it by now!

The riots are beginning again. I think it is in the bigger cities. I think it is a such a shame that It is happening at all.

I will try to have a pleasant christmas anyway. It is so fun to go shopping when people are being civil and decent.

I know Gizmo, what ever happened to holiday cheer and all that good stuff?! I always try to be pleasant when I'm out and about. You never know what's going on with whoever you meet.

Still no desire of putting a tree up. Maybe I'll feel better about it once it is here. Normally I help pick it out, but I don't think so this year.

I need to get out shopping, but the idea frightens me. Never use to be this bad.
