Light Sensitive??

My eyes are killing me!

The are incredibly sensitive to light right now. To the point where it's hard to keep them open, and when lights are too bright, I'm becoming agitated and snappy at the world.

They are usually sensitive, but I had a setback almost 4wks ago and was very traumatized by it. The event caused a lot of my normally containable symptoms, to flair.

I'm not recovering as quickly as I had hoped, and things like light are just lingering with great pain!

Can you wear sunglasses or similar, that would probably help.

I have a similar friend, her pupils don't really constrict much, so she is really sensitive to light.

What ussually helps you?

 Hopefully the Blindness II debuff wears off soon

Prazosin can sometimes do it or even worsen preexisting photophobia.. Sometimes B vitamin deficiencies and stress too.

I had this problem, too. I felt like sunlight was too much (burning sensation on my skin and eyes) and had trouble getting around during the day. This was amplified when I was going through a trigger. I did not know until recently the link with PTSD. At that time I was also very low on Vitamin D. This might have increased the sensitivity.

I have the reverse, I am afraid of the dark. I have to have a light on in my house and nightlights in the bathroom on at all times. But I hate it when I go outside and I am exposed to direct sunlight. My eyes have to adjust to it until my glassed become sunglasses. Then I can tolerate it. So I guess I am light and dark sensitive too!

I have this problem also. It is the worst when I'm riding in a car at night and another car drives by and the headlights are really bright. It gives me headaches and hurts my eyes.

I also have the same problem with hearing. Some noises perceived and tolerable to others are extremely loud to me. Not to the point that it disables me, but when I'm in a crowded room, instead of hearing all the noise as one noise altogether, I involuntarily focus on all the individual voices and noises and it is very dizzying and disorienting.

I'm not on any medications whatsoever and this started occurring about a week after the traumatic event. I think it's a hyper vigilance thing. Your body is on high alert because of the trauma and you feel like you have to pay attention to all the noise and light.
