Love To Nest

. I'm having so much fun nesting in my little condo. How to elevate my mood! My therapist warned me that there is major street repair outside his window and diesel fumes are in his office. So, I am glad he let me out of my appt.
This question goes out to all you artists out there. Can I put a 36" x 36" stretched canvas print over my sofa on a large white wall with no other decor? The print I like is a soft rendition of birch trees on the edge of a meadow. I want to fill the wall but mini mist too. The sofa is simple lines and low not at all chunky. Advice please because the one I like is square

This artist thinks those are decorator questions. I put whatever work I am currently evaluating and/or working on in the most viewable spaces in my house. My decorator friends think I am simply atrocious for it!!! :alien: Even more than when I use utilitarian handbags that don't even match my pumps at formal events. They'll get me housebroke one day... :clown:

Glad you are enjoying the nesting phase of the move. It is my favorite part of the moving. If nothing else, it means the worst is over. I can finally work on relaxing. Congratulations on surviving the moving stresses.

I'm not an artist but decor is my love, and it sounds like a calming image and also a feature point of the room. I personally like a minimalist look and have white walls in my place. It's all about what is personally pleasing to the eye, but I think it would look wonderful to have the image against a white wall and create a feature.

Glad you are nesting now after the move, I've got all this to look forward too in the next 2 months :)

i love the minimalist feel , i would do it and if i needed to balance it , i would put a 5ft standing lamp (very simple one) at either side of couch. L love having my on place for the same reason, although im hardly minimalist at present ..more clutterist

Hi @KwanYingirl , just my very very very humble opinion, usually it's recommended that one goes with the picture dimensions coinciding with the shape of the wall itself, & to pull a color out of another piece in the room that you want as a focal point. The biggest 'mistake' people make is hanging pictures too high: the centre of the picture should be an average person's eye-level. So the height of the couch may determine what you think. But such a picture (with depth) is more like a window (extends the eye), I love that too.

The only thing that really counts is if you love it & it is calming to you. It sounds beautiful. :) Enjoy your new home! :) :inlove:

Yes be yourself, & creative. :) Sometimes the best & most beautiful or interesting or breath-taking results come from that.

Thanks all. I have a dulcimer that I'll be hanging on that wall which will leave a square expanse of wall. It's just so dang expensive to return art to art.com. I am changing my previous accent color from poppy red to blue/gray. I got some very nice ikat pillow shams from Etsy and I'm planning to use the same colors throughout the condo. I am creative in a musical way, not so much with visuals. Your advice is empowering. I'm going for it!!! Today art.com is 35% off. I'm going to pull the blue out of the paintings for the backsplash in the kitchen.
I have fought my PTSD for years. It didn't destroy me even though some days I can't get out of bed, or I'm self destructive and dissociative and fearful. The manifestation of success in my battle is this quaint condo a minute from the ocean. I still can't believe I got two children through college and get to live in this Chataqua community. Yesterday the old man at the post office carried my package to my car. I mean where else does that happen? I see baking cookies at xmas for my new friends.
Did I mention that I have slept through the night every night since moving last week? Peace and quiet. I wish you could come over for coffee.

Minimalism is cool. A painting, some seashells....sounds good. I actually think small rooms need more color...maybe beachy warm tones, but more color in smaller rooms. Clutter welcome too (Oh, I'm not a minimalist...but someday!!)

i always use color but as this is a bachelor pad - i went with a light blue - pure white - mid blue gray trim - l love blues as i miss the blue water of Australia and it makes me feel peaceful - i was a minimalist but l look around now and realize im delusional and need a garage sale to get back to my roots :)
