I have merged these.

Two questions: are you on any medications? And, when you come back down, how...

No, I'm not :). I'm not sure, all this has just started this week. Sometimes I feel 'normal', other times very depressed - my main emotion is fear... it's all a roller coaster

^^ is the tapping something new that your therapist has started working with you?
Definitely something I would want to talk to him/her about eh?
Sorry this is happening to you, I can see it is hard on you (because it does feel like a roller coaster, doesn't it?) and hope you can get yourself sorted

@heyheyhey - how old are you? I'm asking because, especially if you are in your teens, you should do your best to start making a log of your ups and downs and plateaus. There is often confusion in diagnosing PTSD vs. Bipolar, and I'm not saying you don't have PTSD - I'm not a doctor, and can only go by what you've posted here. But this could be any number of things. It could be normal brain development (if you're early teens or mid-twenties); it could be signs of bipolar; it could be a whole lot of dysregulation coming from adrenaline surges resulting from basic PTSD symptoms...

The best thing you can do, I think, is to keep a record of what goes on with you throughout the day. When you get a rush, when you feel exhausted, when you have excess fear - everything. Also, when you go to sleep and when you wake up. You'll need a couple weeks tracked for it to be useful, but I bet your doctors would find it very helpful.

Could be bipolar disorder, could be part of the ups and downs of PTSD. I think it's imperative to be evaluated by a professional.

Hi everyone! I could not find anything online about this the other night - for the liiiifeeee of me. But I've read it's a common thing with panic disorder, when you find some relief or avert the feelings of panic, you can sometimes feel euphoric. This is when it happens for me, so hopefully I'll be okay. Just thought I'd leave this here for someone else in the future :)! Thank you everyone for all your replies! I was definitely having a little melt down the other day haha, thank you all for your loveliness!

I have had it due to medications I was given, like Prednisone. I am Bipolar and was told that I should never have this medicine. Apparently it causes super high states of mania in Bipolar folks! I was so confused that I could not even figure out how to take my medicines. These mere medicines I'd been prescribed for years and had been taking without any assistence for years too. I ended up in the mental ward for 8 days due to that double doses of Prednisone. Never again! I won't take that medicine. I still owe lots of money to that hospital and will for years because of that medicine! And it took MONTHS for me to come down from the mania, with high doses of other medicines. One of my life's worst nightmares, I will tell you!

Hi everyone,

Does anyone sometimes experience any feelings of elation? Not sure where these are comi...

Very often. Mania/hysteria is known to be a coping mechanism for sever psychological distress. Bipolar patients are not the only ones who experience it. Basically, this is a way of your brain dissociating from negative feelings to guard your mind against too much painful, negative experience. I tend to laugh and get hysteric when talking about traumas- My T explained that this is a way of not feeling the pain of obviously painful experiences. The psychological equivalent to the rush of endorphines and haze you could get right after a severe physical injury- you feel hazy, happy, and numb to block the initial bout of pain, but of course that pain can always return at any time.
