My cat was acting ill, sleeping alot mostly and I had to take her to the vet Tuesday morning. After the blood work was completed on her it came back Positive for Feline Leukemia. I then had to have her put to sleep as she was in the last stages and was weak and starting to suffer. This came on fast actually very fast and just tore my heart out. I had to then bring in my two other house cats as it is highly contagious, I was a wreck. I feel a small miracle occured as they tested Negative. Very sad days indeed. However, we did adopt a new little baby and it will be vaccinated in two weeks for Feline Leukemia in hope to keep this from ever happening again.

Port,

So sorry about your cat. I guess if anything...At least it didn't suffer for too long. I hate to see animals suffer, they can't talk and tell us if they hurt. Sorry that you had to put her down but I am glad that you had the courage and kindness to do it.

Hugs

I am so sorry to hear your sad news. I have one cat that tested positive for FeLk too, and I would not let them put her down immediately because she showed no signs of being sick. Many expensive bottles of Interfeuron later I found out that the vet was charging me $50 a bottle for medicine which turned out to be water. Goldie is turning 19 years old this Wednesday. She never really had the disease at all.

Marshmellow loved you very much!

:Hug_emoticon:Sorry you had to make that decision to put your dear furry family member down.....Glad to hear that you have a new little one....I dread the thought that one day I may have to make that decision....PEACE TO THIS PLANET

My heart goes out to you. That is always a hard and heartbreaking decision. May you feel comfort in knowing what you did was the kindest and most caring this you ever did for you kitty. It is indeed a selfless act.

Sorry to hear about Marshmello. Losing a dear pet is always hard. I'm sure the new kitten will enjoy his new home and bring much happiness.

Hope you feel better

Portabella,
My regrets to you on your cat. I had 2 guienia pigs for 5 years and cried for weeks when they passed on. I have a dog named Marshmellow. You chose a good name. Time heals all and by getting a new cat this will divert your attention on your loss.

Sorry !!!
I had to go through this a few years ago with one of our cats she had pancreatic cancer. It all happened so fast. We just thought she was a little sick one day the next we rushed her to the vet. But there was nothing that could be done.
I'm taking our 18 year old male to get a tooth pulled on Thursday and I'm worried how he will do they have to put him under to do it. He's one old man.
