Welcome to the community!
My son spent the better part of 2 years at a premier children’s hospital. Only inpatient for about 6-9 mo in total? It was in pieces. 5 weeks here, 2 weeks there, kind of thing. Inpatient, I lived with him in the hospital (they had daybeds for parents in the room). Outpatient we often had as many as 5 appointments per day, so we were still THERE, there was just also a lot of driving back and forth. If we hadn’t have lived so close, we’d have been put up at the Ronald McDonald house.
You can absolutely do this.
Most good hospitals have social workers to do both case management, resource acquisition, etc. for the patient …as well as… have a helluva lotta resources for spouses, parents, family.
