Mods Why Do You All Have Dolls On Your Avatars? What Does It Mean?

I noticed you all have dolls on your avatars. What is the significance of this? Please tell me I am so curious. Thank you.

They are presents we all received so we are using pictures we have taken of them as avatars.

They are actually key rings with the small dolls on them.

They are actually 'friendship' dolls and a collectible item and are dervived from a Japanese tradition

Kokeshi dolls have been a Japanese cultural institution for over two centuries. Giving and receiving Kokeshi dolls dates back to the Edo period (1603-1867) in Japan. Kokeshi dolls were handcrafted by woodwork artisans of the time known as Kijiya, (which means woodworker in Japanese) to be given away as tokens of love and friendship.

It was actually my Christmas gift to them......... :D

My picture is Molly who I would have chosen for myself from the range available at the shop I purchased them from. Molly's message is 'Friends are there for adventures'. :)
