My GP's PA, whom was the only Dr I saw, I have never met my GP as the PAs can't write scripts and basically do everything, left to go to the VA hospital that opened here not that long ago. My therapist is the one that refered me to him (they refered patients back and forth) as that was his family Dr. I talked the PA into doing a GYM exam and pap as I would never had gone to a OB/GYN and trusted him somewhat. It was only my 2nd pap in my life and I'm 35. They don't do them there but he said he would do it if that was the only way that I would do it and talked to the nurse and explained etc. Even my therapist was worried about that (not having a pap done since I was 19). And he did. He was so sweet too as he waited to allow me to get comfortable enough to open my legs. It was funny as he sat in his chair and then said "you're going to have to open your legs though".
He would leave the room if I needed a min. He would stand there queitly as I gathered myself. He's an amazing Dr. Best bedside I have every experienced and really understanding.
I was heartbroken when he left. Mostly because I trusted hum and he is male and all of his replacements are all female PAs. The GP that they work under is female. Females terrify me so today I rarely go see my MD unless I have no other choice. I am left with finding a new one as my thetapist stayed with them, or my service dog in training can come with me. I have seen a dog (unvested so I am assuming it was a service dog) there before so they seem to be understanding of that.
I know this is an old thread but I have had this happen before so thought I'd comment. He gave me a week's notice. I was in there seeing him for a medical issue (broncotis if I remember right) and that's when he told me.
