New Here
I need help.

My husband left Sat. morn 10/13/12 at 11 am. Just left, no word, I did not even know he was gone. I have heard nothing at all from him. I have called his cell with no answer. He took $750.00 with him, money that was going towards the rent. He took the car. Nothing else, not even clothes.

We have had extreme stress for about 6 weeks now due to various reasons. He was arrested 2 weeks ago due to not showing up for a traffic ticket court date. He said he never got one, yet I found the ticket it was right on there. He had a huge breakdown at a meeting we attended 3 weeks ago saying "I fought for this country" and crying. It was not relevant to anything being said.

My youngest daughter thinks he just left to leave, I think it was PTSD. She feels since he took the car and money it was planned. I am not sure. Once we had a newspaper route and he delivered every paper while being naked. The PTSD doctors explained to me that while he rationally delivered papers properly, the naked part was not rational. This is a man who will not even wear shorts. They said he thought he was on a mission in Vietnam. He has disappeared 4 other times. in 1983,1985,1987 and 2005.

I am at my witts end can't sleep eat, can think straight. Is there anyone who can help me? Anyone who has gone through this? He has always come back but I am still so scared.

Thanks so much.

Hi Eileen,

Welcome to the PTSD Forum :)

I don't have any advice for you as I'm a sufferer of PTSD, but hopefully someone will come along and be able to support you in this.

I am really sorry this is happening, it must be extremely stressful.

There is a supporters section on here as well, with lots of people with advice and support. Take your time and have a look at that.

I really hope your husband is found soon.

Eileen, Welcome to the Forum. I have not personally had to be in your shoes. However from what you have written and him doing this before, please take a deep breath.

I hear your fear but for the moment please try to focus. It will not help your daughter if both parents are in crisis. If he is in fear from the arrest, he might be hiding.

Does he have any friends he might go to? Has he ever said he would harm himself before. Is he on medication and if yes did he take it with him?

Depending on the laws where you live reporting him missing would be one option. It also may make him run further if he see's Police.

If you have access to his cell phone records or the provider it might be possible to call them and see if there is activity on his phone. In my case my provider has a complete record on my account, that I can access.

Just some suggestions. I know it sounds impossible but please try and be calm. Sending you hugs if you accept them. Whitney

Thank you all. My daughter is grown, married and lives 45 mins away, she has not seen him in the past 2 months.

I did report him to the police, he is not in any trouble at all, he spent the night in jail and now has to pay the fine. He has no friends. I did contact his sister and daughter and cousins, no one has heard anything yet.

Our cell phone is through the food bank and was free with monthly free minutes. No idea who the carrier is.

Where is the support forum? I am not thinking clearly.

Welcome Eileen. I am so sorry that you are going through this and I hope that he comes home safe and sound soon. Hopefully his previous disapperances will set a precedence. x

Eileen, If you google his cell phone number it will bring up numerous sources for information. Use the area code and prefix. Each prefix is assigned to a carrier. Type in "who is area code prefix" this might narrow it down some.

You might have to read through as a lot of the info comes up for known scams to numbers as well. I wish you success. Whitney
