Hello everyone!

My name is Chris (or crispy, if you prefer.) I am an Advanced EMT working for a busy 9-11 system in Georgia. I have worked for three years, and over that time, I have "collected" many traumas and experiences that I believe led to my eventual diagnosis of PTSD. One call, in which a child died, sticks out in particular, and was the driving force behind my seeking help. Before PTSD, I was happy, well adjusted, in school to get my paramedic certificate, and genuinely enjoyed my work.

But after I was diagnosed, I began losing sleep, having flashbacks and intense panic attacks, and began to sink into a deep depression. I lost my drive to continue in my line of work, and the joy that I found so easily in life before. Eventually, I was expelled from paramedic school. I would have been fired had I not sought help when I did.

Since then, I met an absolutely amazing woman, who helped me to see the joy in life once again. She fueled my desire to get better and seek others who suffer like I do. Life has begun to significantly improve for me. I got back into school to get my PA-C/ MMS, and we plan to get married next year. But, I still suffer. I am here to talk to others who suffer, to hear their stories, to offer what little I can to help, hopefully, to travel this journey of recovery with other people.

Glad that you managed to get out of the deep well of depression. Sending many warm hugs

it's wonderful to hear you found such an amazing partner and that she has been so instrumental in you feeling so much better. Completely understand you wanting to find your own support all the same x

Glad you are here; can relate to the child dying as I did pediatrics and ER peds for years. It's not easy and traumatizing but all you can do is all you can do. Glad you met someone special and are moving forward in your career. And now you are here healing. You sound responsible and hope this upward trend continues for you. Welcome
