My Mom Is In The Hospital :(

I found out via facebook that my mom is in the hospital.

I am sorry to here you Mom is in the hospital. My family is bad about not telling me stuff too and me having to find it out via Facebook. I found out that my paternal Grandpa had a heart attack (on Sunday) via Facebook. It took them 3 days to tell me he was going to have to have surgery next week.

P.S. I am stiil waiting for them to tell me my cousin had a baby 3 weeks ago. You know the one no one ever told me she was pregnant with....

Thank you everyone for the support. I am still not sure what happened. I tried to find out but she just kept going on about turkey. I don't get it. From the sounds of it, she is going to be okay. I worry so much about her and her diabetes.

KD: Maybe some family members just don't get it about communicating. I don't really understand why it is so hard to pick up a phone and pass along some information. :(

I'm sorry to hear your Mom is in hospital and you are having trouble finding out what's happening. I really hope she is getting good care and is okay. I can understand this is very upsetting and stressful.

I am told she is okay. It was not a result of her insulin pump, it "just happened". I don't understand this at all, but I am glad she is okay for the time being.

Great news. Stress can seriously affect diabetes, possibly she did not remember to eat. Big hugs for you, it is never easy to be out of reach.

I am more concerned with why it happened I guess; but maybe it is none of my business. From what I've read this is a result of very high blood sugars and dehydration. She has an insulin pump and continuous glucometer to keep her blood sugars from getting too high. She has had diabetes since the early 90's and her ability to manage it seems to get worse and worse. It really worries me.
