I can only speak for myself, but have figured out that just doing like one little thing sort of gets the momentum going to get the head out the door, you know? For me, it's a matter almost of tricking myself into 'just doing it'. If there's zero energy for going for the run, I'll at least go at least put on the shorts and running shoes. Well, that gets the dog all worked up. I don't want to disapoint HIM so off we go. After getting back from that it always seems like well, there's one thing under the belt for the day, might as well keep going. Seems to work, anyway, even when the stupid depression is telling me to go back to bed.

Hope you were able to get out there, or can later.

I think of my morning workout as my transition from the old stuff to my current situation. When I wake up I am usually preoccupied with intrusive thoughts and feelings related to old stuff. While I am getting my stuff together and going to the gym and starting my routine (I start with a slow jog for 20-30 minutes) I let myself process the intrusive thoughts and feelings, pretty much getting moving on autopilot. At some point during my workout the endorphines seem to take over and helps me shift to a positive focus on my current situation, and I am ready for the real world (most days anyway).

So program your autopilot :)

Once you get moving it gets easier. Put on some music to get you moving while you are getting ready and that might help get you in the mood.

Thank you for the motivation and replies. Managed get myself to gym this morning for an hour and just been out for little 3 mile jog this evening, hard work in heat got alot ground work to make up with running and not enough time do it in could kick myself for fitness I've lost. Thanks again for the kick in the right direction.

I do what Anni does. I just get my work out clothes on. Then my shoes. Then head out the door. I don't think about what I am going to do, or how much I dont want to. Honestly, once I get my shoes on and my music playing, I am pretty excited and ready to go most times. Good for you for doing it. You will get the fitness back quickly...its easier to find the fitness we lost then to make it for the first time.

Thanks Simply i think thats huge part of it the thought of doing it when you feel so unmotivated and down, a mile seems like 20. Not managed to get out there again yet today may just force myself for a stroll later. Its so hard to keep the momentum when you feel like crap but it does help if only a little. Problem is so much with exercise is mind over matter and its the mind that is not cooperating at the moment.

Will give your and anni suggestion a try, thanks.
