New Here
Hi all. This is all new to me. I havent been diagnosed "formally" but all the signs are there. 17 yrs as medic on combat zones. Excessive drinking to be able to sleep. Marraige in tatters. Anger, suicidal at times etc etc. I dont know where to or what next but I have realised I need help even if its just to read about how other poeple are managing this.

Welcome to the forum!

Your best course of action is to seek out a licensed psychologist that specializes in PTSD. We can provide support for you here but can't do much in terms of telling you whether you do or do not have PTSD; we can't diagnose.

You may also want to take a look at My Combat PTSD, the sister er…brother forum to this one, just for combat vets.

Hi, and welcome to the forum! You can find lots of information and support here on the forum, and I hope that you can seek out professional help as well. There are a number of things that you can do to help yourself, but it usually is best to seek out the help of a trauma therapist.

Thanks for the welcome. Unfortunately therapy is not an option due to various reasons. I guess I just need validation that what I am experiencing is not just a load of BS! No drugs, just tips and tricks needed to get through the next few months untill I can get to a doctor.

I think experiences like that, whether they qualify as a clinical disorder or not are real and troubling, and so no, they are not BS and are worth getting a professional opinion on.
