I started Trazadone a few weeks ago. It seems to be helping me sleep some, but now I feel like I'm unable to wake up from the nightmares/bad dreams. I am constantly jerking in my sleep (I know this because I wake myself up a lot...but at least with the trazadone I'm able to fall back asleep). I wake up in the morning & my body is sore, like I've been tense all night long. I have a sweet little rescue dog that sleeps beside me every night. She must have had a traumatic little life too because she has nightmares sometimes. She's always there to calm me down when I wake up in a panic. Last night my son blew out a candle just as I was falling asleep & set off the smoke detector!! Took me 45 minutes to calm down!

Can you try half the dose? Maybe you won't feel so paralyzed? Sleep paralysis in the midst of a nightmare is the worst! I used to take Trazadone but found it too hard to wake up. Now I take Tizanidine and sublingual melatonin.

@Lola Nocheprieta Maybe I will try that but I don't know if I will be able to fall asleep with 1/2. I have had a lot of episodes of sleep paralysis...where I feel like I'm awake & can see my walls/room, but I can't move. That is terrifying!!!
