New Here
Hi,
I just joined, but i'm looking for some support. Really getting down on myself more and more each day. I don't like to get to this point, but i'm not sure what i can do to bring me out of it. Just spent 3 months in the hospital, and i did really well my first week out, but now it's getting tough and i don't know what to do.

Hi Denice,

Sometimes it is just taking life one moment at a time and reminding ourselves not to judge or to be too hard on ourselves. Getting out of the hospital and getting back into a new routine is difficult. Reach out for help and support here and with your therapist or other mental health professional.

Be proud of yourself for taking the steps necessary to get well.

Debbie

Welcome to the forum. The first few weeks after getting out of the hospital are often the most difficult. You are out of the sheltered environment, and all the pressures that were on you before you went it are back now. My advice: reach out to your therapist, find a support group, keep posting and expressing your feelings here, and try not to isolate. The more things you can do to 'reconnect' the faster your transition from hospital life back to the 'real world' will be. You CAN do this. Remember (and I have to remind myself of this a lot too) that things do get easier. There will be setbacks... ups and downs... but LIFE IS WORTH IT!

As to idea of finding a support group... I was lucky enough to find one (peer led) that meets on a weekly basis. It's given me a place to share my innermost thoughts and fears without being judged (much like you can on this board), only even better because many of these people are now my friends, who I can do things with outside of the group

If I've learned anything in my recovery process, is that it is my own responsibility, and no one else can do it for me. I had to grasp the bull by the horns and MAKE MYSELF go to the support group, even when I was afraid, depressed and ashamed. I don't know your specific circumstances for being on this board, but I do believe that ALL PTSD sufferers deserve a chance at healing... a chance to reclaim your life. BEST WISHES DENICE.

Welcome to the forum Denice, wow what can I say after Addy's posts. She said it so well.

Linking arms with you and (((Hugs)))

I'm glad i decided to log on. Thanks for all the encouragement. I'm going to ask my therapist if there is a support group around.
Thanks again all.

Denice,
I Hope you're doing ok, I'm willing it in fact. There's a lot of kindess and love here, for you. Strangers on this forum have helped me, it's simple & beautiful. Keep going.
The birds are singing here.

Be proud of yourself for reaching out. You've felt good before, you'll feel good again. I think you might find joining a support group to be very helpful, being alone with a secret pain can be a terrifying place to be. Reach out, be proud of yourself for affirming that you deserve more from life than you're experiencing, and be patient with yourself.
