Sorry to hear you're struggling
@gizmo
Some things that work for me:
- having a bath or shower (bath if I want to relax and have a long soak, shower if I want something more invigorating)
- going for a walk. Or even just getting outside - standing in the garden!
- lighting scented candles - I've got different fragrances that have different associations/impacts
- feeding ducks - one of my favourite, favourite activities ever! It makes me feel very content.
- colouring
- pet an animal. Or even my favourite cuddly toy.
- play favourite music loud and sing along at the top of my voice, pretending I'm performing at the O2!
- watching a box set that will carry me along - I find that Scandal is great for this, even if I'm not really int the mood to watch anything else
- cleaning. Especially cleaning tiles and the oven, for some reason. Or reorganising a kitchen cupboard/wardrobe
- snuggling up - cosy socks, soft, tactile clothes, wrap up in a furry throw
- watch favourite comedy shows - Absolutely Fabulous and Friends are both things I can watch over and enjoy. Or watch funny animal clips on YouTube
- journal - though avoid if you think this could drag you deeper into negative feelings
- cook or bake or do something practical/crafty
- do a jigsaw? Not actually something I ever do but I just thought of it and can see how it could be a good distraction activity?
- diaphragmatic breathing exercises
- meditation
Will post again if I think of more....
Hang in there!
