Thank for the welcome. I appreciate the kind words and understanding. My husband has tried his best to help me he just doesn't know how. He was abused by our son, too. But, he doesn't have lingering issues because of it. And he didn't get abused to the degree that I did.
I did find relief talking to that other man because he literally knew nothing about me. He didn't know I had children, a husband or ptsd. I could show him my best side and obviously he liked it. It did raise my self-esteem in an unhealthy way.
To Discarded, I'm sorry your husband did something similar. I felt bad that I hurt my husbands feelings but I don't think there was anything my husband could have done or said to have prevented me from talking to that man. It had reached a point where I couldn't have stopped even if I wanted to. I felt pathetic relying on an almost stranger to give my my self esteem but I couldn't stop. I knew that once that man found out about my personal life, the party would be over. I never wanted that to happen.
Now, that it is over, I am forced to work on myself.
