Nightmare Triggers

I can relate to that nightmares with mazes or similar. Sometimes I get voilent one and feel like vivid.

My nightmares are related to my truamas as well.

It seem hard to find someone actually understands PTSD and being supportive instead saying on that's past and move on statements.

I'm glad that my explanation is clear to you. Some people was not sure what I'm saying.

May I ask - how do you cope the panic?

For me - I would remind myself today date and it was over not happening again.

I guess i dissaciotiate sort of from the panic or try my bedt to. Which is not the right thing to do. Infact ignoring things is part of what got me here. I'm not sure this will help but i get a hot water bottle for comfort, snuggle up with it and play soliataire on my phone. I try to control my breathing whilst taking my mind off whats happening. I need to be in a 'safe' place mostly home to cope.

I'm a beginner at this so I'm just using probably untried & tested methods. How do you cope? :)
 
I always try & look at in from the 3rd person. So for example I'm watching a film and this happens to someone, if I was a bystanding what would I do now to help this person? :)

I cope in different levels - depend on the severity.

Normally I would remind myself or excuse myself out of area to distract myself to do something else. Sometimes being alone and quiet or keep myself busy on games or something that able to distract myself.

Does that works? Not always but for me yes it helps.
 
@PureDogs There is an iphone app for anxiety I use if severe it's sort of self hypnosis. Teaches you to relax your body from head to toe, it's good for sleep also.

Totally down with the games option! It's funny how you find these little things and then find out someone else does this to! :)
