Nortriptyline experience?

Hi,

My psychiatrist is considering taking me off my current antidepressants (venlafaxine and mirtazipine) and putting me on nortriptyline, most particularly for my depression.
I've had amitriptyline in the past and from memory it made my depression worse, though she said she's going to look back at my notes

Does anyone have any experience with nortriptyline in general/ for depression specifically?

Thanks in advance

Personally, nortriptyline really worsened my dissociative tendencies. However, that was before I was able to seek out therapy, so it may have been a different story if I had been able to get into treatment a lot sooner.

I loved the beautiful dreams, but I soon realized that I wasn't getting any nourishing sleep. Two weeks in, I threw in the towel. As for depression, I don't think I was depressed at the time.

I'd trust your gut. You've experienced it before and know how it works. Take a pass if that is the right decision.

This was a long while back, but I wanted to comment on one thing. Nortriptyline caused my first grand mal seizure, which progressed to a lifetime of focal seizures. Changed my life - not in a good way - forever.

I likely had been having the focal ones since I was little. But they really didn't create any issues until I had the grand mal. And the nortriptyline was given at an excessively high dose, which I'm sure is what triggered the seizure. So, if you start(ed) it, just be sure you monitor your dose carefully.
