If you feel you or a loved one are ill, please seek medical attention immediately.
Though you say you're no doctor mac, it may be helpful to bec what you did share with her, and thx. I hope it helps her. Also, it's always hopeful to me just to see people care. Note: nobody would ever understand what I just stated, unless they had PTSD from the same nature and causes I got it from.

Anyhow mac, that's the most frustrating thing about all this. Bec did seek medical attention for her son in the ER and after waiting 2 hrs., they look at him and tell them he's fine and to leave.

I can't stand most doctors. I've found that too many are at one extreme or the other. From the moment they see you they make a presumption and they either go all out, exhausting your insurance monies with one unneccessary, often intrusive, maybe even traumatic test or intrusion, after the other, or they do absol. nothing of any use or help.

Bec, I share in your frustration and annoyance with that ER doctor, and I never met the person.

grrrrrrrrrrr.....doctor's yuck, ER's grrrrrrrrr. The wait......most aggravating.

Bec, Please keep us posted and let us all know how Matt is doing.

It's one thing if the doctor runs some test, lab work perhaps as mac suggested, or does something intelligent to check, it's another when they're so presumptious as to think they know from the moment you walk into the room, or they do little to nothing to check, so at least a parent may leave with some confidence that the doctor knew WTF they were doing.

Please excuse my frustration and anger....just a bit riled up with that doctor.

Again, Bec, please let us all know how Matt does, if he improves or not. I hope so and my best to the both of you.

Hey guys, well he went to school, so that is a good sign, he is still sore but he could walk.. so I take encouragment in that..

Mac: If I could force them to do it.. I would.. however, it takes 3 to 6 months to see your family doc here.. and going back to ER would have the exact same results.. gotta love the health care system...

I'm hoping it was a severly pulled muscle.. which it very well could have been.. . so damn hard to tell with kids..

bec

Well, if he gets ill at school then at least the school nurse should be able to give you a good idea of what was/is going on.

Y'all don't have nurses in the schools? That is pretty wild. Hell, they were always the ones to give me a heads up. My teen girl was always "sick", sick of school more accurate, the nurses would always call me and tell me if she really had something and I always knew what it was before going to the doctor with it.

We have school nurses here. I think it depends on what part of Canada you're living in, and whether you're rural or urban. I live in an urban setting, so there is more health care generally, although the health care anywhere in this country is severely lacking.

Bec, sorry to hear about Matt. I hope he's better now.

Hi Bec, I hope Matt is ok...

Don't wanna alarm you but when I had my little appendix adventure...I had sever abdominal pain, followed by a lot of puking...i was still gonna go to basketball parctice...but my parents stopped me...went to family doc...she put pressure on my legs and got me to push back whihc I did no problem...a) she was fairly old and didn't perss too hard and also, I was an athlete in highschool (had strong legs) ...she still took the precaution though and sent me for more tests etc...Had to do an ultrasound...and then there wer elike 4 ppl in there and were saying "we think it's the appendix but can't tell for sure b/c we can't see it"...anyway...turned out that it was the little bugger...so they took it out...

Sorry guys.. for not posting sooner.. he is fine.. it was a severly pulled tummy muscle.. he is bouncing around as per usual.. me on the other hand.. LOL ugh if it's not him it's me.. have a cough that makes me throw up.. guess my lungs are "irratatted" so am on T3's with codenine for tonight and will be on some cough syrup that has codeine.. ugh.. that is it.. no more doing nothing. (been a very busy busy week.. so much for my rest.. LOL well now I have to) anyways it's nothing serious.. just gotta stop coughing! Damn colds.. I wanna do this to whoever gave me this! :boxem:

bec

My child is so sweet, I got up this morning and basically lost a lung, was throwing up again.. attempting to get the meds into me.. ohh not fun.. and my son begged me, literaly begged me, to stay home to take care of me. I thought that was so sweet. He's very upset I made him go to school. I think I scared the pants off of him coughing this morning.. ahh the first thing in the morning all the drugs wore off experience..

Anyways, how many 11 yr olds do you know want to take care of thier parents like that?

bec

Hope you feel better soon Bec.

Matt sounds like a very loving son concerned for his mum, enjoy that feeling of knowing that you're loved very much!
