Ok, I Have A Smart Phone. What Have I Done?

If we are only patient with ourselves we will learn how. If we do not know how there is always tech support. One way or another we will learn. Technology is making new words and I do not know what they are. I will have to get another up to date dictionary. Technology is changing very fast nowadays.

I am nostalgic for the simpler days when things were alot easier and in print the size I could read. Now everything is so small I have a hard time even with a magnifying glass.

I wonder when they will figure out that the baby boomers cannot read their instructions. There will be an awful lot of baby boomers. Ok I will get off my soap box now.:arghh;

I've always wondered when they'll figure that out. We can't read micro-print AND we have arthritis in our hands and can't open packages...that's MY soap box!

I am a member of our local Womens Institute. At our last meeting, one of the youger members said she would like to learn jam making. A few of us can make jam so it is not a problem.

I then said, I'd like to know about smart phones and iPads, the member laughed and said she had both in her bag.

We will be doing skills exchanging - sorted.

When my kids started coming home from school talking about DOS and RAM I knew I had a problem.

I'm 48 and had never used anything other than an old fashioned typewriter and I was useless at that. My kids and husband are all dyslexic so I knew that in order to support my kids with school work I would have to learn.

Local libraries were running sessions to teach people the basics for free so I signed up and was hooked. I was the one in the house who knew how to work the new gadgets as my H does not do well with technology so I then booked myself into college and gained qualifications in Microsoft Office (Integrated Business Technology).

Even with that I often need my Son's to help me with the hardware and software. They build computers and run stuff like 'Fallout' with mods that require basic programming - that is beyond me.

I now have this shiny new Samsung Chromebook that has some features that are very different but I've taken to it like a duck to water - I love it! I do have some problems that I will discuss in another thread because I need some advice.

My H really struggles with any technology and, like Amethist's H, doesn't know how to use the washing machine!

AKJ, I hope you get your phone sorted. It isn't men or age, it is just harder for some than others. x:hug:

This thread made me smile :). I got a new phone a few weeks ago and still haven't programmed everything into it. With our contract, I get a new one every two years and that is about how long it takes me to figure it out. :confused:

Think I am going to take the easy way out this time and give it to my daughter to program. :D Although, who knows what it will do after that! :eek:
