I've always been an innate optimist to the extreme. And then my GAD started ramping up over the years coupled with things just keeping to go wrong/bad things happening. Again and again and again.
So, this ... ?? .... fits.
I don't consider myself a pessimist (though outsiders might disagree). Expect the worst, hope for the best.
My default still is "everything will work out somehow" and then the anxiety kicks in going "Wait a second, what about...?". Creates a helluva lot internal conflict.

No, but I don’t believe I’m a pessimist, I’m a cynic. Plan for/expect the worst and anything better is a bonus. Too many years of the worst thing happening for that to change.
