Our Pets

My puppy is a trauma survivor as I've said before and--look, I'm really against over anthropomorphizing animals, but I swear she has PTSD symptoms from her trauma. She's hypervigilant at night (doesn't want to go outside, is extremely nervous, hyper-alert) and seems to have triggers (she won't go near people who are arguing even if their voices are not raised at all, fears men, scared of even slightly loud noises).

She was just having some sort of dream... she sounded like she was hyperventilating or choking, breathing irregularly and snorting and twitching and looking like she was struggling to get air to her lungs, and I tapped her and she woke up with a start and cowered and looked scared, then opened her eyes properly and put her head back down with a sigh.

I love my dog.

He lives with my mum now. He's also the one good thing that remains of my relationship with my ex. I adore him.

Apples McKittyPants.

Cheshire McStripeypants, named so because she's that black-and-white splotchy all over, except for her back legs, which are ginger stripes just like her sister, Apples.

Apples has a particular love of GTA.

My last two (Rotty and Pepper, pepper in the avitar) have been my best dogs ever and were rescues as well. Can be hypervigilent, etc. Rotty used to have panic attacks with hyperventilating etc., i think he was happy to have an owner who was understanding.

I mentioned once that I had another cat, but he's very difficult for me to take pictures Of because he either A. never, and I mean never has his eyes open or B. He's a walking shadow however, I got one! I took it with my phone:

Every time with that face, he only ever has one eye open? Anywhoozle his name is franklin :)

Franklin looks a lot like my kitty Spook, who is also a ridiculous sleepy little shadow. I used to have to pat down my clothes on my floor, in baskets, and in my drawers to try to find her (all I wore was black, and she would hide in my clothes).

Sorry I don't have a better photo of my dog, she is afraid of cameras and will either run and hide or turn her head away if anyone tries to take a picture. Her name is Akira. I adopted her from the Humane Society and they didn't know her history, I'm almost certain someone abused her in the past. My cats name is Sweetie, my daughter named her. :p
I also have a stray cat who lives on our property that I have been caring for, he is very skittish but he is slowly getting used to me. I call him Thomas.

I think I post here like every day. Anyway,

I just wanted to say as I will say again and again and have said...

Thank heavens for my pet!

Annie brings me joy and hope every day.

I know it's not strictly in the spirit of this thread, but I thought you all being pet lovers might be able to help with my dilemma. My next door neighbour - who has a cat called Tigger - recently separated from her partner after a major row. He threw her out and then cleared off. She comes back intermittently but the cat has stayed throughout. There is a cat flap into their house, so I know he's OK for shelter but she is gone for days at a time so obviously the poor little sod is starving. I feed him, but my cat attacks him so it's not fair for me to entice him with food only to be attacked. My son thinks I should report animal cruelty, what do you guys think?
