When I called this specific practice, they were taking patients but I needed a referral. I had to wait a month for my therapist to send a referral to psychiatry because she is forgetful. I get it, doctors are swamped here.
This is the last place within an hour(ish) drive, (which is what is safe for me in New England weather in a little Honda), and it's not for lack of trying to find one because I call, and call, and call. This was it.
They just called, they got the referral on Monday and they aren't taking new patients. Well now what? Like I don't have enough shit on my plate, I now don't have anyone to help and try to figure out some med to help me handle said shit. It's like I finally admit "okay, things just suck off klonopin, I need help" and there isn't any.
:/

I hear you loud and clear, it is very frustrating I imagine. It is so hard to be patient when going through what you are.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease is a favorite saying of mine. Can you just keep on them by calling them relentlessly or is that not a good idea?

I have lists
I call everyone on the list once a month. Unless I am suicidal I cannot get in

Doctors here are restricted from prescribing a lot of medication, and then at the same time, flabbergasted that I have so many specialists. Well yeah, I do need some specialists, but the others are because my last doctor referred me out for everything. Which gives the doctors no say in what I am prescribed by specialists, because they didn't want to initially deal with x, y, or z. So even if I wanted to cave in and say, I will risk going back on klonopin, I could not get it prescribed without a psychiatrist. It's maddening.

What about your primary care doc? Can they provide something like Vasari? Or can they talk to the clinic and see if they can get you in sooner? Sometimes doctor to doctor connections can do a lot to get someone in sooner.

I don't know what Vasari is?

The reason I need a psychiatrist is because I have a condition that makes me allergic to some meds while having a super high tolerance for others (has to do with the way they break down in the system). Antidepressants fall in that category of allergic, my primary doctor is reliant on a specialist to be able to work with the disease and figure out what I can take.
She is a new to me doctor (the practice loses doctors every 10 months ish. She is my 6th in 5 years there). I cannot talk to her about my mental issues because I don't have that level of trust yet. I have okay'd my therapist to talk to her to see if they can coordinate something.
I appreciate you trying to kick around ideas with me, thank you

Stupid Autocorrect - I mean Vistaril. It's an anti-histamine that can help with anxiety. I have a ton of difficulty keeping PCPs and finding meds that fit with my body chemistry. I can understand too about not wanting to discuss mental health with your PCP

Might be worth it to ask your therapist to call psychiatrists to see if they can see you sooner, or to ask the PCP what they can do about that. I hate the search and the wait for good docs. Or any doc. My heart goes out to you.
