Pain And Ptsd

-Thanks. Got more news today. Veteran's Affairs has now agreed to pay for an initial assessment at physio. I called the Legion last week and signed papers saying they could access my file and represent me. I'm not saying the sudden change of heart at Veteran's Affairs has anything to do with that, but,,,,,,. I start physio tomorrow at 11.

Zip,

It sure seemed funny they would not go for PT. Every green horn doctor I have been to always starts out with "You need some PT." It's like the old cold commercial. "You need some herbal tea."

And when I ask them to read my jacket and they see how many times I have been to PT, and how long the injury has been there, they say well, I guess we have to deal with the pain.

For all the hydocodone scripts I have been given, I should be a drug addict.

Problem isn't the doctors, it's the pencil pushers that write the checks. Physio costs money. They want me to prove that this treatment has a chance of improving my lot in life before they will pay for it. Kind of hard to do if you don't even know if it's going to work. Funny though, they didn't bat an eye at the chiropractor. And if the chiro hadn't worked as well as it did, I wouldn't even be considering doing actual exercise and possibly hurting it worse. When it slips out, drugs do nothing for the pain. But 30 minutes on the table and I was better then I've felt in years.

Zip, I really wish I could say the same. I did go to a chiro, actually several. There was some bleeding down the inside of my leg afterward and the docs I respect said not to do that anymore. Massage, light and not pounding, did wonders not only for the leg muscles but my morale (and they were not Happy endings). But that didn't last long.

Shit, I might as well admit I am on hydrocodone now but only when I really need it. But I am walking real good. My wife has helped in that regard. She is a great coach. Without saying it outright, it's "quit bitching and let's go walk." Having her is the best medicine. I have lost many lbs.
