Our laws stink in the US!
I so agree with you. Which is why I used to go to the Capitol, in my younger years, to get them changed. Now, there are better laws to protect people with mental illness. It took a long time and a lot of people to get those laws put in place. So at least I won in one area. LOL.

I'm glad you got that emergency phone. Good move.

Actually, over the years, I've spoken in front of the house several times for things like Human rights, children's rights, protection for battered and abused people, mental health issues, etc. In the day, I wanted to be sure my voice was heard in order to help change bad laws.

Now, I am old, and just another citizen. sigh. Sometimes I miss the excitement of those days. LOL. But I sure don't miss the publicity. Now, all I can do is write letters, but at least I can do that.

WOW, thus is just pain weird! And scary, frankly. I hope the messages stop soon.

I got a random pic sent to me once. A scantily clad woman. I texted back that she had the wrong number. Sadly, I was not stalked and didn't receive any more pictures. KIDDING. Well, not kidding about the pic, kidding about the stalking comment. I know it's a serious issue for you.

I thought I had a phone stalker when I first married my hubby, but later it turned out to be his brother trying to see if I were home. He was convinced that I was cheating on my hubby and wanted to prove it to him. My hubby stopped speaking to his brother and it stopped after they had their big falling out.

Aha, Thanks ISH now I know where to direct my scary too!

I am not afraid of this person. He has not a clue who I am. Authorities have his number. What a dummy! This is my emergency phone due to another ongoing investigation. Only a few have the number and they all wear uniforms of blue!

He may end up with 6 foot, buckle trimmed sleeves! Hugs, Whitney

Once when I was living in New York, I had a wireless phone. And a stalker found the connection to my phone and listened in to my conversations with my boyfriend (now ex) and then caught me when I told somebody my phone number. And then he called me with this sick voice telling me he was my boyfriend and saying disgusting stuff. It was so scary because I first thought was my boyfriend telling me all that. I called the police too.

Hugs Whitney. I hope this gets settled.

Hi Whitney,
I don't know if it works the same in the US (Canada here) but when my partner got his new cell phone number, he started getting calls all the time from creditors of the person before him who had the number, and he just called the cell phone company & explained the situation, & they gave him a new number. That was the end of that. I am assuming since you are getting texts it must be a cell phone, & the situation isn't much different--in the sense you're getting repetitively called by someone who probably knew the previous owner of the number, or someone who did, and is now harassing you. If you haven't, you could try that--esp. with the police being involved, I don't see why they wouldn't agree to just give you another number, sans stalker.

My husbands business phone came with a psycho woman stalker. I called her directly after repeated calls and weird texts to my mister. I don't exactly remember what happened after that, but it did stop. Come to find out the business phone belonged to another corporate employee, and even though she knew he didn't work there anymore, she felt like my mister was "close enough."

Run a reverse phone number check and see if anything comes up to get an identification on the person. Sometimes something will come up. Save all the texts and the best way to stop a harrasser is not to respond. Eventually even the most unbalanced person will stop barking up a tree if they get no reply.

In a related story (said in news anchor voice);)...just last week, as I was ar home minding my own business, someone I don't know sent me a picture. It was of some gang-banger type guy holding a bunch of money in larger denominations, in both hands, spread out in a fan shape.

I ignored it. A couple hours later, I received it again, and I answered, "wrong number", to which they replied, "aight". It looked a bit like this could be money from a robbery or some other crime, then I realized that they have my number, and if I possess evidence (the picture, sent by that number), they could look me up and find me. Yikes!

I asked my daughter what "aight" means and she was laughing and told me it was "ghetto text" for OK or alright. She didn't think I should worry, but what does she know, I'm the one who raised HER, lol.

I called the state police and they didn't care, they said I should just delete it all and not worry. I'm so impressed by the initiative in following leads shown by them!

My daughter texted me something like, "Dam, homey, that's alot of green u gots there, what'd u do, bust a joint or cap a fool, share da wealth brotha, I'm as broke as a motha to the brotha", or words to that effect, followed by, "please Mom, send it, I'll die laughing"!

Then I nearly died laughing as I wondered who the heck IS this girl I call my daughter lol.

I never heard any more from the unknown number...:D
