Tornadic Thoughts

Surfing some waves of grief this week, so I decided to play in the dirt, plant some seeds, nurture some life up in here (especially my own), seek out some wild thangs, and change the scenery and the program in this brain of mine.

Struttin' in one direction and scopin' shit out in the other...

Preppin' pretty veggies and local shroomage of the oyster and lion's mane variety...

My favorite first sign of spring that pops up each year next to the sidewalk...

The first seeds of the season planted - arugula, mesclun salad mix, kale, and spinach - with the cover propped up waiting to go on to keep them protected until the night temps are warmer...

Secured and ready for night night...

A few more seeds planted in a bigger raised bed - beets, red onion, spring onion, radish, and I can't remember the other one (carrots, maybe) - with some garlic still livin' in the background...

My shadow waving at ya'...

Soaking the shroom logs - note to self - add more water...

Although you can't see it, the wind is blowing so hard that it actually forced me to a halt trying to walk. It wasn’t really cold, in the twenties. Which means with the wind chill it was really cold but not so much I was worried about frost bite . My daughter and I had to abandon the beach for about 1/3 of the northward or homeward journey. It’s only about 20 feet or so at the widest point across the “dune” that separates the beach from the street but the difference in the weather is very dramatic.

I love how the garden space is sort of positioned to be at the end of this rainbow. It certainly is one of my favorite pots of gold - green gold, that is...

The sun finally getting a chance to peek through the interesting variety of cloud cover after a day full of rain, wind, and a rainbow....

This colorful spot will soon be poppin' with lots of yellow...

We have a dry erase board in the kitchen that we use to leave daily reminders, schedules, greetings, or whatever the moment calls for, and this one melted my heart. The hubby isn't one to freely express a lot of feels, so for him to make time to actually notice what I do (especially since I more often than not "feel" unnoticed, as I have since childhood) and then acknowledge it in writing feels pretty damn special. He left this note on a morning I volunteered at the service/therapy dog place. Had to capture a kodak moment to warmly reflect back on when he plucks a nerve later on down the road. lol
