Berlinda I wonder what that poor single duck is thinking knowing he has to fight off all those gulls for a piece of bread.....lol.

@Fahrenheit451 he had a few other duck friends around not in shot, and they fared much better amongst these small gulls than the other ducks did in the pond where the Canada Geese hang out ;)

I found a picture of the woodpecker I described above. He's already closed his wings in this picture, but when open they almost reached the metal frames. Scary! ?

That’s a male (red cheeks) pileated Woodpecker. They’re the largest woodpeckers around these parts. I can see why he scared you...lol.

I love the pileated woodpeckers....as long as they aren't pecking on the house. lol They're some of the greatest percussionists in nature. ? ?

I looked outside one day and saw one on the electrical pole steadily pecking away while a love dove was just chilling out next to it. If I come across the pic I snapped, I'll share. :)

This is a bit different pic so I’ll explain. Those of you that live in the country might have seen something like this but a lot of people never have. The tracks on the left are those of a marten who was running around on the snow at night. The big marks are made by an owl as he swooped in and grabbed it. He then landed for a second before taking off with his prey. You can see the marks in the snow from his tail feathers as he came in low.
