Playing Keyboard is Therapuetic

I find playing keyboard (Piano) to be very therapuetic. The feeling it invokes, kinda reminds me that I'm still human. Maybe you can relate.

I've attached one of my favorite love songs. Since Spidey can't be close to Mary Jane, I'll just share this song with you. I think she knows.

I didn't open the file, as zip files make me leery.

My aunt could play piano by ear and would make that thing produce some glorious sounds. My mom could read music and her pace was much slower and more intentional as she worked through a song. Both were very good in their own styles. We'd gather around the piano each Sunday evening after supper and sing along with their playing.

Yes indeed...playing an instrument is incredibly therapeutic. I can only play Mary Had a Little Lamb on the piano - but it feels like I just finished a whole concert when I manage to get through it without screwing it up. lol

The Djembe drum is a favorite of mine, along with the Native American flute. I have other smaller percussion instruments, too, and have made damn near everything I'm surrounded with an instrument at one time or another. When the urge hits, grab what ya' got and raise the roof! I have no desired direction with any of them, other than to follow my heart, smile and keep going when I screw up, and build on what I've taught myself each time.

When I combine the Djembe with the mini-trampoline - what a hoot of ongoing randomness that is! lol Nothing to build on there - just a massive much needed energy release that eases stress and moves that lymph! :) Playing outdoors is my favorite, and luckily no animals have attacked me, lol, but now that winter is here, not so much.

I love listening and playing music.
Always lost myself in music. Am listening to music as I write this.
But.... haven't played my keyboard or piano or keytar (my original Yamaha...classic!) at all this year. Not once. Therapy started in January.

I'm in a band, but we haven't met up this year because Jan and Feb we just didn't get the time, and then the pandemic.

I do miss it. But equally, I don't have the desire to pick it up.
Listening to music is what soothes me at the moment, rather than playing.

Glad you have found something that helps you.

^ I studied and played classical piano for many, many years. But not anymore. Music does soothe the soul. Enjoy it and stretch yourself to learn hard stuff - the more you do it the better you'll feel.
Thanks. I just plink around. I play chords mostly. Don't know if I will ever make it to the hard stuff, but we'll see! 😁
