Hi,
I am not trying to be rude, but being cheated on cannot cause PTSD as it does not meet criterion A...
The thing is they DON'T want the disorder, nor would they know what to do if they had it. They want to be validated in their pain, they want to be able to say "no, this was so bad that I have PTSD".So bloody sad that people want this craphole of a disorder.
There really should be a disorder for the people who always crop up here with this bs though.
You never know how it feels to be cheated on unless you go through it. It's terrible and causes ptsd
You can't 'trigger' PTSD. If you have a psychiatrist who is telling you that and is telling you that you have PTSD because your spouse made bedroom eyes at someone else and you were reminded of your father's infidelity, that is complete BULL. Yes I would be worried about being put on Abilify or whatever meds this psychiatrist has you on. Seek another opinion. Because if this psychiatrist has diagnosed you with PTSD based on that criteria he/she is a con person. And put you on unnecessary meds. If you have another condition and need meds then you should have been explained that. But you cannot have PTSD so get a second opinion. My psychiatrist just added Abilify to my meds, and I'm worried about taking it, about what it says about my mental health. I have a call in to him to ask more, But I completely understand the woman's point of view, if her husband had never done what he did, the PTSD would never have been triggered.
