Mine does that but it also shifts. It's not a good thing per say. I had my tonsuils out when I was 22 (that was an evil operation) and they had popped my mouth open too far (I have an exremetly small jaw) and ruined the disks that are in the joint. So my jaw can and will shift sometimes from bite to bite. The only "fix" for it is to have surgery and have my mouth wired shut.. I live with it.. thanks. LOL

Yes, get it checked as your disks in the joint could be worn out.

just a question... who should I be asking to take a look? (did you mean a dentist or orthadontist?)

I had showed a Doc the click when I open and close my jaw, but nothing was really said about it. I already have a custom fitted mouthguard for my nightly clenching... but the clicking has never gone away

It was my specialist who warned me that I could "wear out" the joints on my jaw, must be a bit like people who have to have hip joints replaced I guess. Dont know what the treatment is. My specialist is an "oral surgeon" I think he spends a lot of his time repairing damage done in accidents. He does my Botox injections he does not do any of my dental restoration work.
