I was diagnosed about a year ago with PTSD. I grew up around intense violence and being physically abused as a result. Also I participated in a highly competitive combat sport which caused me a great deal of anxiety.

By the time I was a teen I was extremely angry and violent. Fights everyday, vandalism, suicidal thoughts, arrests. I was a mess. I started competing in no holds barred cage fights and was constantly in fights on the street. An alcohol problem soon developed. Things tapered down when I got married but the alcohol got worse. Also, I just felt angry still alot even when I didn't notice. Stress got so bad I developed an Adrenal insufficiency condition, as well as a drop in testosterone. I lost like 30 lbs on accident(and I was not fat) and couldn't eat due to IBS and acid reflux I had also developed. I was having serious derealization and anxiety attacks like 5-6x a day. I eventually was hospitalised for my adrenal gland issue and placed on meds as well as sent for therapy.

Thanks to an awesome therapist I was able to get things under control. I no longer require meds for adrenal, testosterone or anxiety.

To my shock my endocrinologist's diagnosis was that everything was due to extreme levels of anxiety due to stress. I am slowing putting my life together and keeping things moving forward. I still am finding it extremely difficult to relax at night. I am easily startled, and have nightmares of violence I jump up from every night. I can't fall asleep. Still feel angry alot and distant emotionally which creates problems in my marriage. Only thing that helps is when I exercise to extreme levels which makes me so exhausted I have no choice but to be too tired to be anxious or angry.

Just need to find a place to vent and someone to relate too..That's my story

Hey welcome, I used to feel really angry all the time and I did some pretty stupid things as a result. I did an anger management course and it helped a lot. Playing hockey also helped. You ran around and used a stick to hit the ball as hard as you can, so you're not actually hurting anyone like in boxing or anything. I hope things get better for you.
