PTSD from alien abductoin recently

Just womdering. Because aliens aren't real. Like, there may be life forms in other solar systems. But there's not aliens that come and abduct people on earth.

So, believing that could be a sign of psychosis?

when I hear certain sounds or such or even dogs barking or seeing dogs I get extremely anxious because of what they had me do when I was abducted.
Okay, there’s good news and bad news.

The good news? Getting anxious about an environmental stressor, like barking dogs, falls well below the threshold for ptsd. There’s multiple groups of symptom clusters, and you need to have symptoms rise to clinical levels in each category.

The bad news? There’s loads of things that can cause you to get anxious about environmental stressors other than ptsd - it’s a looooong list. (But mostly they’re things that can totally be resolved).

You’ve had an experience, it’s causing you distress, and that’s definitely worth getting help with. It’s probably not ptsd - having been abducted by aliens it sounds a lot more like you’ve experienced psychosis. That’s worth getting help for pronto - it’s likely a far more serious issue than having PTSD because of barking dogs.

Mod note:
and if you wanna know the real reason you can message me i suppose

Yeah there are just no free therapists around here that take insurance. But I guess I can keep looking maybe

But there's not aliens that come and abduct people on earth.
Can you 100% put your hand on your heart and say that with that level of certainty vs. your opinion and personal view? I certainly don't know what does, or does not, exist beyond Earth. Hell, I don't know what exists on Earth, let alone beyond it. I'm not say they're real, but I also can't say they aren't, because I do not know.

well then I guess i made the whole thing up and my fear of dogs is fake because they had me breed male dogs!

I mean, whatever is going on you deserve to get help. I completely believe there’s something that’s happened.

But, I’m going to say that if you go to any psychiatrist or therapist and claim it was aliens that abducted you their initial thought would be psychosis. As you start to open up and explain what’s happened in more detail they can determine whether it’s PTSD or Psychosis etc.

And I guess that’s what we’re thinking too. I’m not saying you’re making anything up AT ALL. I believe you’re in genuine distress, and I’m sure there’s things that have caused you to get here.

If you feel like telling us why you think it was aliens, and how things played out a little bit more then feel free.

And as for symptoms - is it just dogs that are causing the anxiety symptom? Or are there other things? I’m just curious to know if there’s other things related to experiences that are causing these reactions.

Yup, I can.
Sign of delusion/ psychosis/ similsr issue .
Pretty sure 100% of psychiatrists would agree.

pretty sure my fear of dogs is causing my anxiety and nightmares etc. Because i was forced to breed them repeatedly for what seemed hours.

Do you have psychosis or a history of it?
I remember when I told a psychiatrist, 25 years ago, that George Cardinal Pell was a child rapist, that she laughed at me and mocked me. Saying not everyone is like my father. Now this is established fact. Peel himself said he had "vanilla sex" with some of the boys in question.

Even if someone is in psychosis or has a history of it, they still deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.

I was also told that I was a liar for saying my father, grandfather etc male relatives raped me as a child. Being laughed at and mocked and told that I was dangerous for saying such things was extremely painful.

For part of my childhood I pretended that I was an alien child whose alien parents had left me on earth to go and find a way to safely get home. That they made a mistake leaving with this family.

Before challenging a client's beliefs, any psychiatrist will build up a relationship. See Dr David Burn's podcasts and books. There absolutely needs to be rapport and trust being built and in place and to be heard. He emphasises the treatment of those in certain states with empathy, particularly those with psychosis. I am not saying this person has psychosis. I am saying be kind and respectful.

Everyone deserves to be comforted, supported and heard.

When someone new turns up, you could be polite and welcoming. Or you can keep your cheap pot shots to yourself.

All humans (with or without a mental health issue) have a right to be supported, treated with respect and dignity.

You have to meet folks where they are.
